SEASON STATS

Season records (All, 2009; South, 1995-2008)

These are single-season records for offence and pitching from 1995 to 2009. The significance of the year 1995 is that this was the season after an independent breakaway league folded, meaning that the best teams in the country were all competing under the British Baseball Federation banner once more. A minimum of 60 plate appearances is needed to be eligible for the batting average, on-base average, slugging average, and on-base plus slugging average (OPS) categories. A minimum of 40 innings pitched is required for earned-run average (ERA), walks and hits per inning pitched (WHIP), and strike-outs per 9 innings (strike-outs / 9 inn).

Full season stats (All, 2009; South, 1995-2008)

Sortable season stats for top-tier baseball between 1995 and 2009 can be downloaded below as Excel spreadsheets (the league structures for each season can be found on
British Baseball Data). For the 1995-2000 period, stats are incomplete. If you wish to use the sort and filter functions and are running Excel 2007, you will need to enable macros. You should be able to do this through a security warning prompt that appears below the toolbar. In previous versions of Excel, you should be asked about enabling macros on opening the file. If not, you will need to set the security level to medium (through Tools > Macros > Security) and then open the spreadsheet again. To ensure full functionality, follow the instructions below.

Right click on your chosen year; choose "Save target as" or "Save link as"; open the file saved on your computer.

Team records (All, 2009; South, 1995-2005, 2008)

These are single-season team highs and lows for offence and pitching from 1995 to 2009. The 2006 and 2007 seasons are excluded because the top-tier teams played a substantial proportion of their games against teams from the second tier. For definitions of the abbreviations used in the table, see
individual season records.

CAREER STATS

Career records (All, 2009; South, 1995-2008)

These are career records for offence and pitching in top-tier baseball from 1995 to 2009. Wooden-bat offensive averages are also provided, which exclude the pre-2001 metal-bat statistics. A minimum of 225 plate appearances is needed to be eligible for the batting average, on-base average, slugging average, and on-base plus slugging average (OPS) categories. Fielding awards (All, 2009; South, 2008)

These awards for fielding in top-tier baseball made their debut in 2008, which is the first season for which fielding statistics were broken down by position. The awards are made based on a number of factors indicating value to the awardee's team, including playing time, chances fielded, fielding average, and a subjective assessment of range. Rather than separating the outfield into the different positions, three general outfielding awards are made. No award is made for pitchers' fielding.
